Ph.D. (Electronics Science and Engineering)

The Doctor of Philosophy in Electronics Science and Engineering is awarded to candidates with aptitude for research and analytical skills who have contributed to advancement of knowledge in the area of Electronics Science and Engineering. This programme covers, but is not restricted to, the areas of research in Micro-electronics, VLSI Digital Design, Signal Processing, RF and Microwave Materials, RF and Microwave circuits, Thin Films, MEMS. The qualifications are M.Sc. in Physics or Electronics or B.Tech./B.E. or M.Tech./M.E. in Electronics related subjects. The precise entry requirements and selection criteria for admission into the programme are specified in the admissions brochure.

The proposed intake for the Academic year 2024-25 is 6 (with 4 vacancies to be filled through the regular mode of admissions of the University and 2 vacancies to be filled under the Visvesvaraya scheme of MEITy)
Admission to Ph.D program: The University will conduct a written examination, following the written examination; candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on merit in the written examination. The admission to selected students will be based on the combined performance in the written examination and interview according to merit. UGC/CSIR JRF qualified candidates are not exempted from the written test. All admitted Ph.D students will have to successfully complete the course work as stipulated by the University of Hyderabad regulations. The total coursework requirement for Ph.D in Electronics Science and Engineering is Research Methodology (4 credits- compulsory) and the following based on the qualification.
(i) B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc students:The student need to complete minimum 8 credits in the first semester after admission + minimum 8 credits in the second semester after admission from the courses listed in Table I as suggested by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC)
(ii) M.E/M.Tech students: The student need to complete 8-12 Credits from the courses prescribed in Table II as suggested by the research advisory committee (RAC). While suggesting the course, the RAC will take note that the student is not repeating the same course again.
